Welcome, and thank you for visiting Barnstaple Counselling and Wellbeing.

Barnstaple Counselling and Wellbeing is situated in the heart of Barnstaple serving the local community, towns and villages surrounding it. We offer care and compassion for our clients and connection and support for our therapists, so that we work together as one community of practice.

We offer counselling services for adults, and children plus complimentary therapies such as sports massage. We offer room hire to small groups or charities, discounted rate if hiring more than one room at a time, our largest room is equipped with a TV screen for PP presentations.

For therapists we offer flexible room booking, no fee short notice cancellation, free WiFi, free advertising on our website, regular coffee and chat support group, communal/waiting room with tea and coffee making facilities.

We have a total of five rooms on one floor, choice of four are available for face to face therapy services three of which are spacious and all are well equipped. There is no minimum or maximum amount you can hire, with total flexibility, which means if you are ill, on holiday or taking a break you are not incurring room hire costs.

If you are a qualified, insured and member of an appropriate professional body practitioner, please contact us to enquire about room rental, suitable for counsellors, psychologists, coaches, sports massage therapists, physiotherapists and similar.


If you are a newly qualified counsellor or just starting up in private practice, why not join our mentoring scheme?

This is a six month scheme, which includes one to one mentoring with Susan Aston, for an hour each month and 4 free room slots per month for 6 months (unused slots can be rolled over to the next month for a maximum of 9 months). Counsellor training covers how to be a counsellor, but not how to run a business, to be successful you need to equip yourself with a multi-skill set. Here at Barnstaple Counselling & Wellbeing, each counsellor operates their own self-employed business, in an atmosphere of care and support for each other.

Susan Aston

Fully qualified and insured Counsellor, Mental Health First Aid Instructor and founder of Barnstaple Counselling and Wellbeing.

I am a member of the Bacp, my core approach is integrative and person centred. Professional, genuine, grounded. Counselling offers a neutral space to tell your story, your experience in your own words, to be listened to without judgement, a time to talk, a time to think, a time to process how you feel.

Melissa Humphries

Fully qualified and insured Bacp member Integrative Counsellor. I have worked within the Mental Health sector for over 13 years, 7 of these in the NHS

I provide a confidential, non-judgemental and caring space supporting you to explore, express and develop your experiences and understand your emotions in a safe and private environment.

Ben Trafford

Sports Massage Therapist. Our aim is clear, to provide you with precision therapy for optimal performance.

Using industry leading techniques, with a simple approach to complex issues, getting the best possible results on the day. Specialising in posture correction, lower back pain, sciatica, shoulder, neck and elbow pain.

We serve the local community of Barnstaple, along with the surrounding areas of Bideford, Braunton, Ilfracombe, South Molton and surrounding villages and hamlets.

Sessions and Fees

Room rental £9 per 90 minutes (Sunday half price rate) our Small room £6 per 90 minutes, flexible online booking system. Available 8.30am to 8.30pm, 7 days per week. Four rooms available ranging from a small room suitable for one to one therapy, through to the large room suitable for small groups such as Yoga, Mindfulness or as small group training room or other professionals who need a cost effective base in which to see clients. TV screen in the large room, alongside comfy chairs plus two desks. All rooms equipped with desk and chairs and tea and coffee making facilities. Water & tissues supplied in all rooms.
